Little Devils Is Here To Help With Your New Year's Resolutions
The new indie production from TRZ Media brings you into the life of stories that might help you to sort some things out
Happy New Year!! As we all wake up today, wherever we are in the world, ready to welcome 2025, it might also be a moment to reflect on our New Year’s Resolutions.
As the clock struck midnight last night, did swear something under your breath? Have you quietly been saying something to yourself for weeks, maybe even months, and then last night you cemented it? It might have been loud, or even very quiet.
This year I’m going to…
Maybe you told yourself you want more of something? Or you’ve committed to less of something else? Perhaps your goal is to do something completely new. Or maybe you are now willing to embrace a change that is already upon you.
Finally, it’s time to let that thing go, the deadweight that shackles you to somewhere, or someone. Eventually, that thing that you swore to yourself will happen, or arrive, or leave. Belief is the first step.
What resolutions did you make?
I’ll start. This year, I want to find time to embrace my inner creative voice. I want to make more short stories, be more honest with my personal stories, and find new narrative heights where I can be brave. Maybe I’ll share them with the world, but I might just hold on to them to feel the personal satisfaction of taking time to create and explore.
If you’re wondering what this confrontation, this idea of examining yourself, or others, to find those inner thoughts and memories that you might need to expunge, here’s something to get you started.
As you listen to Little Devils, you might reflect on your resolutions. And as you do, I would suggest that you plant the voice of Jasmin Bauomy in your mind. She is, by her own admission, a little bit judgy. But that little voice bit might be the difference between reflecting on something with honesty and letting the moment pass you by.
Little Devils is about embracing our imperfections. A place to allow those memories, thoughts, and stories that show our less-than-perfect side, to come to the surface. It’s designed to make you feel a little bit lighter.
As Bauomy closes out each episode, she asks those questions that the little devil in your mind quietly says, but is usually quietened by the little angel to keep quiet.
In the first episode, she presses Endre, about what he sees ahead of him in the future, and what he might be looking forward to. But he cannot answer. He stutters and avoids answering her direct question. So she goes for it.
“Are you trying to say that holding, treasuring, some of these thought patterns, is a way to grieve your dad?” she asks him. And then his confession comes out. He finally admits what’s been holding him back.
In Episode Two we are treated to a story from the eminent storyteller Ray Christian. He tells a story about a regretful moment when he was a young Private during in Vietnam.
He waxes eloquent about this story. It’s beautifully told, evocative and enlightening. But it’s an unfinished story. So she asks the uncomfortable question: “Have you told your kids this story?”
Christian confirms. No. No he had not told them.
And so she presses: “Were you to tell your kids, what’s the lesson of the story, for them?” It’s a pointy question. And Christian giggles uncomfortably.
But she also doesn’t end it there. She keeps pressing. “Wouldn’t you agree that the moral of the story is…”
I will leave the hilarious, revealing conclusion for you to listen to.
Please enjoy this brand-new Indie production from TRZ Media. If Heavyweight has left an empty hole in your heart, Little Devils is here to help fill it.
All pilot episodes for the Pilot Season are available now.
Below is a short Q + A with the creator of Little Devils, Jasmin Bauomy.
1 - Tell me the short list of reasons you told yourself you WOULDN’T do this project before you actually dug in and committed.
[Jasmin Bauomy]: The only reason I could think of not to do this project was that I didn't want to do it alone. So, I was wracking my brain trying to think of who could be my partner in crime. I decided to just go ahead anyway and told my boss about my little side project. He got curious. I made a pilot, which sold him on the idea. Finally, I could bring in one of my favorite audio creators to work with me.
2 - Tell me about your New Year’s resolution.
[Jasmin Bauomy]: In 2023, I noticed that I'd become extremely judgy and lost my curiosity towards people. I was so cynical, which ended up cutting a lot of social interactions short. My resolution was to be more curious and ask better questions. And so I decided to rediscover my curiosity and try to be kinder towards people I would otherwise be quick to judge. Then the first story fell in my lap, just because I followed my curiosity. I followed that thread, at the end of which was the creation of Little Devils.
3 - Which Little Devils will we hear from in the season ahead?
[Jasmin Bauomy]: If only I knew already. I'm curious to hear more stories from around the world. I'd love to have a Little Devils story from Japan, Nigeria, Finland or Brazil. I'm curious about the little devils in our genes, as well as little devils "in the details" and little devils in nature and history.
I would love to hear more stories about the ways people are a bit fucked up - and I don't mean addictions, but these thoughts or habits they might be ashamed of. The theme lends itself to a treasure trove of stories.
And my DMs are open for ideas from everywhere.
